As I sit here enjoying a quiet cup of coffee before Logan wakes up at 7am, I can’t help but reflect on how much intentional structure we created around sleep when he was a baby.

And honestly, it ended up being one of the best decisions we made for our family.

Before I go any further, I want to say this clearly:there is absolutely no mom shaming in this post.

Every baby is different.Every parent is different. And every family needs to do what works best for them.

But for us, sleep training truly changed our lives in the best way possible.

I spent a lot of time researching infant sleep before Logan was born.

I read books, explored different philosophies, listened to podcasts, and tried to understand what would realistically work best for our personalities and lifestyle.

What I kept coming back to was this:humans naturally thrive with structure and routine.

And for me personally, the idea of having some level of predictability during the newborn phase felt incredibly important for my mental health.

The thought of every day feeling completely chaotic and dictated entirely by the baby honestly felt overwhelming to me. I knew I needed some kind of rhythm and routine in order to feel grounded and emotionally okay during postpartum life.

One of the first methods we explored was On Becoming Baby Wise.

While I understood the concepts behind it, I personally struggled with how difficult it felt to consistently implement in real life.

Unless every caregiver was constantly rereading the book, adjusting schedules, and fully aligned on the approach, it felt complicated and hard to maintain consistently.

Then one day while scrolling through Facebook, I came across Little Ones.

And honestly, I was immediately intrigued.

The creators were from New Zealand, and something about the entire approach just resonated with me right away.

The app was simple to follow, visually easy to understand, and sent notifications and schedule updates to anyone connected to Logan’s care. It also provided instant troubleshooting guidance if naps went off track or sleep patterns changed unexpectedly.

And on top of that, you had access to actual sleep consultants through the platform.

Genius.

Within about 3 to 4 days, both Logan and our household had already adjusted surprisingly well to the routine.

We officially started the program around 3 months old, and since then Logan has been an incredible independent sleeper.

He learned how to self soothe, fall asleep on his own, and comfortably resettle during the night when needed.

And honestly, the predictability helped me tremendously as a mom too.

Knowing when naps were happening allowed me to plan my own day, appointments, errands, downtime, and even moments for myself without constantly feeling like I was surviving minute to minute.

The program also helped guide us through sleep regressions, nap transitions, schedule adjustments, and even potty training later on.

Now Logan is almost three years old, and bedtime has honestly become one of my favorite parts of the day.

We brush teeth, read books together, snuggle for a few minutes… and then he looks at us and says:
“Okay, it’s time for you to leave my room so I can sleep” 😂

I’m genuinely so grateful we found a system that worked so well for our family.

And yes, we will absolutely be using it again with our next baby ❤️
